As a qualifying and sanctioned event in track and field and archery, Dakota Para Games para-athletes will need to determine their classification prior to competing in order to participate in additional competitions and to qualify for other regional and national events, including the Adaptive Sports USA Junior Nationals taking place in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, July 14-19, 2019.
Each athlete that has NOT been nationally classified, will have to determine their "soft" classification. In consultation with coaches, parents and/or medical professionals, use the link below to determine in which class the athlete might belong.
The soft classification is necessary before an athlete can register. There will NOT be time this year prior to the event to determine athlete classification. If an athlete qualifies for Adaptive Sports USA Junior Nationals, national classification will take place at the event. That said, if the soft classification is different than the national classification, athletes are still allowed to compete at Junior Nationals.
Additional information about classification can be found by visiting the US Paralympic website at:
An additional note: if you are an athlete with a leg limb difference or compete with a prosthesis, more information is available at https://www.paralympic.org/athletics/classification.
